Itinerary

Day 1
We depart today full of expectation of a wonderful holiday tour, traveling through Illinois, Indiana, and to our lodging in Columbus, Ohio. Weather permitting, we stop in Clifton for the annual Clifton Mills outdoor light display. This light display is one of the country’s finest, with over 3.5 million lights illuminating the mill, the gorge, the riverbanks, trees and bridges. There is even a 100-foot “waterfall” of twinkling lights. You’ll see spectacular synchronized lights and a music show that features the old Covered Bridge, a Miniature Village and a Santa Claus Museum.

Day 2
Today our travels take us into Pennsylvania and to the sweetest place on earth for the next two days. After checking into our accommodations at the Hershey Lodge we enjoy “Christmas in Chocolate Town – A Holiday Dinner Musical.” This Broadway-style revue will surely put you in the Christmas spirit! Our guest rooms at the lodge feature chocolate-themed décor and artwork. With a relaxed atmosphere and sweet reminders everywhere you look, you know you could only be in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Sweet Dreams.
Included Meals: Day 2 – Cont. Breakfast, Dinner

Day 3
After a hearty breakfast, we visit Pennsylvania’s best-kept secret. Nestled in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country, the National Christmas Center is dedicated to preserving and sharing precious mementos – and memories – of Christmases past and present, near and far. Discover the whimsy and fantasy, the magic and memories, the history and traditions of Christmas! Just a short distance away, we discover the traditions and customs about Christmas Time in an Amish setting with all the festive luncheon trimmings. Kitchen Kettle Village shopping time will provide you with the opportunity to pick up something special and unique for that loved one. This afternoon, we attend their new show “Jonah” at the Sight & Sound Theater. A faithful, righteous prophet of God … suddenly disobeys and runs away! As a result, he encounters a TERRIBLE storm, an ENORMOUS fish, a TINY worm, a MIGHTY wind, a BLAZING sun, a WICKED empire, and the GREATEST revival in history. “Jonah” is a story of extremes! And through it all, God reveals His extreme mercy and love – for all. Get ready for Sight and Sound’s most extreme fun filled adventure yet. From the moment you walk into the theatre and experience the incredible sets, costumes, lighting, seamless transitions, immersive scenes, and special effects, you’ll be on the edge of your seat, and in the heart of the action. Jonah is truly a show for the whole family – uplifting, entertaining – yet with a powerful and timely message for today. Return to the lodge for dinner and a driving tour of Hershey Park “Sweet Lights” display, which is the centerpiece of the Hershey holiday celebration. The park is decorated with more than one million twinkling lights on nearly 600 animated displays, including their KISSMAS tree.
Included Meals: Day 3 – Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Itinerary

Day 1
We travel across Missouri to St. Joseph for our first night’s stay. Before going to our hotel we stop at Tobiason Studios for a hands-on experience with stained glass artwork.

Day 2
Our first stop this morning will be in Omaha for a tram ride through the Lauritzen Gardens. Here we experience an urban oasis of beauty and tranquility. This 100-acre botanical garden creates a living museum of unique four-season plant displays, maintained to the highest standards. The Market District was an early retail center for area farmers, outfitters and other commercial interests. The Old Market District offers a variety of restaurants for lunch and shopping diversions, yet it still maintains its rich heritage with its cobblestone streets and horse drawn carriage rides. After lunch we take you to one of the most unique factory tours you will ever find. Employed strictly by blind and visually impaired the Toilet Paper Factory provides workplace training in a converting operation that supplies 100 percent recycled fiber content washroom paper products to the U.S. Government and other customers. We continue to the Durham Western Heritage Museum. This museum is the restored Union Passenger Terminal, which was completed in 1931. The museum features historical artifacts from Omaha’s history, an extensive coin collection and various special exhibits. After freshening up at the hotel the evening is filled with German cuisine and entertainment.
Included Meals: Day 2 – Breakfast, Dinner

Day 3
Wake up to a unique breakfast presentation of Ukrainian linens and traditions. Then we board our motor coach for a city tour. The historical driving tour of Omaha will take you through historic and newly developing areas to see where the city has been and the direction in which it is growing. Special areas of interest on the tour are the Old Market, Pioneer Courage Park, The Riverfront, Midtown Crossing and St. Cecilia’s Cathedral. Along the way the guide will share stories of famous Omahans past and present.
We have included for your enjoyment a luncheon cruise on the Missouri River. River City Star-Omaha’s only premier riverboat presents an unforgettable experience that truly captures the personality of this great river city. After lunch we experience the grandeur of Joslyn Castle, a historic treasure of Omaha’s rich Scottish Baronial heritage. Enter through a wrought iron door that weighs nearly a ton. Proceed through the vault-like vestibule lined with inlaid mosaic tile on every side. Marvel at the carved Spanish mahogany staircase that curves upward, sweeping before the large marble fireplace flanked by the curved stained glass windows overlooking the conservatory. See the living room-library, where the Joslyns’ mementos and books were set in lead-glass set in lead-glass cabinets framed by walnut from the Caucasus Mountains northeast of the Black Sea. Imagine you are an invited guest. Joining other guests, you would socialize in the drawing room, decorated with gold-toned satinwood, an ornate gold-leaf plaster frieze, and an elaborately hand-painted ceiling. From there, you would move to the dining room. The walls are a treasure of elaborately carved Jacobean-style oak paneling. They reflect the shape of the original dining table which still serves as the centerpiece of the room. This 35-room castle and its 5.5-acre estate grounds reflect Omaha’s development at the dawn of the 20th Century. At this time there was also a large scale immigration of Greeks and Latinos to the city. This evenings dining cuisine will be at the St. John’s Greek Orthodox Church, followed by a live performance at the El Museo Latino.
Included Meals: Day 3 – Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4
Travel a short distance to the Lithuanian Bakery This place has the best sweet breads. They are dripping with syrup and nuts. They go perfect with coffee in the morning! Taste mouth-watering Lithuanian tortes and find out how these multi-layered treats are delicately crafted. Boys Town-a National Historic Landmark, tells a story dating back to 1917. What started as a small home for troubled and abandoned boys has grown into a campus complete with a Hall of History, All-American Rose and Biblical Gardens, the Leon Myers Stamp Center and more. We can even enjoy a bit of Hollywood: Spencer Tracy’s Oscar for his portrayal of Father Flanagan in the movie “Boys Town” is on display. Lunch is provided on the grounds after our tour. Next we have our own exclusive demonstration and performance on the most versatile orchestral theatre pipe organ ever built. Then we return to the hotel to freshen up before a full evening of entertainment at the largest theater company in the country which has a venerable history going back 85 years. Its former actors include none other than Marlon Brando and Henry Fonda, both of whom began their acting careers on the Playhouse’s stage. Included in our evening is a backstage tour, dinner and one of Omaha Community Playhouse’s top-rated productions – Hairspray.
Included Meals: Day 4 – Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5
All too soon our treasured time in Omaha has come to an end. We explored new avenues of cultures, delighted in ethnic food, and take home priceless memories of this historical amazing city.
Included Meal: Day 5 – Breakfast

Departing from:
Decatur, Springfield, Litchfield, Pontoon Beach, South County, Hazelwood, St. Charles, Columbia
