Day 1 | Dalton
Day 2 | Savannah
Today we head to beautiful Savannah, the oldest city in Georgia. Enjoy dinner this evening at Pirate's House. After dinner we board a trolley for the "Trolley Tales of Historic Haunts" tour. (B,D)
Day 3 | Savannah
After breakfast, we will have a Savannah Historic District tour on a trolley. The tour will include seeing some of Savannah's famous monuments which are dedicated to our leading citizens. Tour the Cathedral of St John the Baptist. You will have lunch on your own and free time on River Street. After lunch we will begin the tour of the Savannah Lowcountry on our way to Tybee Island. We will board a boat to experience the thrill of encountering dolphin in their natural habitat while taking in breathtaking views of Tybee's serene coastal waters. This evening dinner is included at the Crab Shack where "the elite eat in their bare feet." (B,D)
Day 4 | Charleston
Today we meet our local Charleston Guide and travel through the South Carolina low-country to the Charleston Tea Plantation. We will take a Trolley Ride through the tea fields and help yourself to all of the iced American Classic Tea you can drink. Luncheon today will be at Middleton Place, a premier National Historic Landmark where guests can experience daily life on an 18th century plantation. You will be treated to "A Cook's Tour of Middleton Place," this tour examines Charleston's culinary heritage from a plantation point of view. Explore the formal gardens with your trained interpreter who will explore the history and horticulture of the gardens. We return to our hotel to relax before our evening dinner cruise aboard the Spiritline of Carolina. (B,L,D)
Day 5 | Charleston
This morning we start our day with a tour of the Charleston Historic District. Our tour begins at the Charleston Visitor's Center, where you can see the original plan of The Walled City. We visit the Citadel, the Military college of South Carolina (subject to availability). You will see Joseph P. Riley Stadium, The Battery, View White Point Garden, Fort Sumter in the Charleston Harbor, and a few houses along the Battery. You will have lunch on your own in the City Market. Dinner tonight is at Oyster House, after dinner sit back and enjoy the Sound of Charleston Experience, the unique sounds that define Charleston's rich musical heritage. (B,D)
Day 6 | Charleston to Dalton
Following breakfast and hotel check out, we depart for Magnolia Plantation, where we visit the main house and ride the Nature Train through the grounds in search of alligators, turtles, egrets and herons. Our journey today continues to Dalton, GA, where we overnight. (B)
Day 7 | Return Home
Our captivating experience in the South must come to an end. We travel back to the reality of the Midwest, reminiscing with friends about the wonderful visit to the elegant and historic sites of the southeast. (B)
