Days 1 and 2
We head south today toward warmer temperatures as we go through West Memphis to Little Rock. Day 2: We travel through Houston to Galveston Island, where we check into our hotel, right on the Gulf of Mexico.

Day 3
This morning a local guide will tell us about the rich history and sites of interest as we tour this lovely City by the Sea. We’ll see the East End Historical District, the Silk Stocking District and the bustling wharves of the port area; we’ll take time for shopping and lunch on the Strand, five blocks of grand Victorian buildings alive with shops, galleries and restaurants. After lunch we travel deeper into Texas on our way to Corpus Christi, the “Texas Riviera,” where accommodations await us overlooking Corpus Christi Marina. Corpus Christi is a major deep-water port and one of Texas’s most popular seacoast playgrounds.

Day 4
This morning we tour the USS Lexington. Our next coastal stop is South Padre Island. We arrive at our beach hotel just in time to stroll on the beach or just relax and be hypnotized by the beauty and sound of the surf breaking on the sand beach. You’ll see why it is a haven for artists, photographers, nature lovers and sun worshippers alike. We stay two nights here.

Day 5
On our cruise this morning, we will see the wide array of international flag ships that ply their trade throughout the Port of Brownsville. See how oil platforms are built at the largest platform production yard in America, and learn about local history, shrimp boats, and dolphins. Lunch today will be a shrimp boil while on the cruise. The remainder of the afternoon is free to enjoy the beach.

Day 6
Today we head north to the lovely old city of San Antonio. We’ll visit the Alamo, where 188 valiant defenders fell in March of 1836. This afternoon and evening you can set your own pace and choose the points of interest you wish to visit on your own. You may choose to visit museums or browse through the shops at Market Square, Southwest Craft Center and the downtown area. Enjoy dinner on your own at one of the cafes along the romantic Paseo del Rio, the meandering, beautifully landscaped River Walk along the San Antonio River.

Day 7
Our guided tour this morning will include San Fernando Cathedral, Mission San Jose, Guenther House, Japanese Tea Garden, and the Buckhorn Hall of Horns. We’ll also explore Market Square, a restored Mexican farmers market. This evening, meet your guide for a scenic boat ride along the colorful Paseo del Rio, past the shops and restaurants that line the River Walk.

Day 8
We continue north today through Austin and Waco, Texas. We stop at Magnolia Market at the Silos, owned by Chip and Joanna Gaines, hosts of HGTV’s Fixer Upper, for shopping and lunch from the food trucks (weather permitting). We continue on to Hope, Arkansas, our home for the evening.

Day 9
We travel north through Arkansas today, arriving home this evening bursting with travel tales about coastal Texas and San Antonio.
